SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Starting Monday morning, many scattered City services may be taken care of with one stop at the front desk of the new City Center.

The building across from the downtown Library on Dakota Avenue opens at 8 a.m. Monday.

City officials say rather than having to go a couple places to conduct City business, like pay a utility bill, get a park permit for an activity, or file a zoning request, it can be done from one location.

There are consultation rooms for more meetings with City officials or staff, conference rooms, and a large meeting room where nearly all City boards will hold their hearings and meetings.

Some departments have already moved in such as engineering and traffic engineering.

Perhaps one of the biggest technological leaps the new building provides is a state of the art traffic monitoring area. It is complete with large and even larger monitors where traffic engineers can watch traffic movement at key intersections in real time. It looks a lot like Mission Control at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.

Some of the furniture is new and some is coming from City Hall and other offices. Officials say purchases were made with an eye to how the furniture that was going to be moved in would fit into the new decor.

The interior has a lot of windows and steel, but even interior areas have natural lighting. The lighting system also detects the amount of ambient light and adjusts to increase or decrease additional lighting as needed.

Construction on the $25 million facility began in January 2017

Watch the video above for a tour with some offices occupied and descriptions from Mayor Paul TenHaken's deputy chief of staff T.J. Nelson and assistant city engineer Shannon VerHey.

KELO.com News also toured the building in May at its ribbon cutting.
