SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO.com) -- Local residents have gotten used to big announcements coming out of the Sanford Sports Complex over the last few years, but Thursday was a bigger day than most.
Mills Fleet Farm broke ground on their new 185-thousand square foot retail store is expected to open on the complex sometime next year.
The Sanford Pentagon also announced that it will host the University of Nebraska and Oklahoma State in a regular-season men’s college basketball game Dec. 16.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Sept. 7 at the Pentagon Box Office and ticketmaster.com. Television coverage will determine a start time.
The contest will be Nebraska’s first trip to the Pentagon, which has played host to 23 NCAA Division I men’s college basketball games since opening in 2013. Oklahoma State last played in the venue on Dec. 12, 2015, defeating the University of Minnesota 62-60.
The local sports bar Will’s Training Table joined the big media blitz, announcing Thursday that it will add a two-story expansion with multiple patios in a renovation that will nearly double its capacity at the Sanford Sports Complex.
The two-story addition will include walk-out patios on both levels. The renovations will take seating capacity from 260 to 450 and allow four to five areas to host private events, business meetings and more.
Sanford took over the restaurant, which used to be Beef ‘O’ Brady’s, about a year ago.
The new addition is scheduled to be done in mid-February.
The big announcements come in a series of construction projects planned or in progress at the Sanford Sports Complex.
Last week, Sanford broke ground on Great Shots, a new golf entertainment concept opening next fall.
Some of the new developments at the complex could also include facilities for soccer, baseball and softball, as well as a hotel with a waterpark.
