Aggies rally to get EPA's Pruitt's attention on E-15

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Ethanol supporters and other ag groups rallied today to put pressure on EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt to allow the year round use of E-15 and limit production waivers to oil refineries.

Among the speakers was Representative Kent Peterson of Salem, who had a message for Pruitt that ethanol has provides an economic lift to farmers.

Peterson says the state needs ag to be healthy.

The South Dakota Democratic Party was tougher on Pruitt.

“Scott Pruitt is not fit to serve as head of the EPA, or in any public office," party executive director Sam Parkinson said in a news release. "His continuous efforts to undermine the Renewable Fuel Standard and to favor Big Oil over biofuel producers show he is no friend to South Dakota farmers or the environment."

Pruitt is visiting the state, holding private meetings with producers in the Reliance area.
