SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The owners of what critics call the Monster House in Sioux Falls' McKennan Park, on Monday, filed a permit to demolish the controversial home.
After months of legal wrangling, a Judge finally ruled in May that the huge home must come down, because it doesn't fit the neighborhood's historic standards. McKennan Park, known as Sioux Falls 'Central Park', is surrounded by old, historic homes.
The wrecking ball could show up any day now. The judge gave Josh and Sarah Sapienza until June 16 to remove the house, which according to public records is valued at well over $850,000.
The legal nightmare started when neighbors filed suit, claiming the tall home cut off their sunlight and would make their wood burning fireplace unusable.
