SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The voters may decide a $190 million bond issue for new schools to handle Sioux Falls ever-growing student population.

A special task force is recommending the bond referendum to the Sioux Falls School Board. The Board's likely approval would send the issue to the voters in the fall.

The referendum would cover enough money to build a new high school, middle school and elementary school.

The School District's Doug Morrison helped crunch the numbers so task force members would know the potential cost to property tax payers.

"To do $190 million in projects, it would cost the average home payer, at a $185,000, $2 a month or $24 per year."

The School Facilities Task Force spent volunteer time over four meetings to come up with its recommendations on how to solve the problem of school buildings bursting at the seams.
