SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The Sioux Falls City Council voted for their leadership positions last night.

Councilor Christine Erickson was the only nominee for Council Chair.

Councilor Pat Starr said he fully supported her nomination. He had said he would run for the spot.

"I appreciate the hard work she has done as being vice chair that has led up to this point," Starr said. "I'm whole-heartedly going to support her nomination and enjoy working with her for the next year in the chair position."

Councilor Marshall Selberg is the new Vice Chair and newcomer Janet Brekke was nominated to the Operations Committee.

Neither of them were opposed.

Councilor Stehly hopes the new leadership brings about more transparency with the Council. She wants everyone on the Council treated as equals.

"Because there's nothing more disheartening than to find out that something's been discussed and the rest of us were not informed about that," Stehly said.
