SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Today, Mayor Mike Huether made his last appearance on The Greg Belfrage Show as Sioux Falls' chief executive.
As his final term runs out, he's been thinking back over his eight years.
He said he was always on duty as Mayor, sometimes to First Lady Cindy's chagrin. "Cindy really didn't like it when I went grocery shopping with her because we planned on a 20 minute trip and it turned into a one hour trip," says Huether.
Have you ever wondered what it's like to be the mayor of South Dakota's largest city?
Huether says, "You never know what's going to happen within that day." He says he's grown to love what might happen and will miss it when he's Citizen Huether on May 16.
The people is what he will miss the most about the job, Huether said. "The people there inspire me. They lift me up. They motivate me. They cheer me on. They throw my butt back into the ring time and time again. I'm gonna miss them."
Paul TenHaken takes the baton from Mayor Mike May 15th.
