SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Though it closed unexpectedly Sunday, Old Chicago restaurant did say "goodbye" to at least some of its customers today via email.
KELO.com News has learned that some employees received a text not to report to work before their shift. Others received phone calls.
The franchise page for Old Chicago now lists South Dakota as available for franchising. The company has been in business for 40 years.
At 9:22 a.m. today, the Sioux Falls location sent an email that said, "Thank you for 15 years of pizza and beer!"
It also offered a $5 coupon for the Sioux City location--if used by June 1. It also said the location would have Sioux Falls rewards members' information transferred there.
It also noted that "If you have a stein or plaque you would like to collect, please pick it up from the casino by 5/11/18."
Old Chicago has stores or franchisees in Oregon, North Carolina, South Carolina, Arizona, Idaho, Texas, Tennesee, Kentucky, Montana, Michigan, Colorado, Wyoming, Arkansas, Indiana, Kansas, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and North Dakota.
