Using snow gates could mean days of time to plow all streets, and that extra time is not possible while maintaining public safety. Snow gates will not be used during this snow alert.

I-90 from Sioux Falls to the Minnesota border will reopen at 10 a.m. CDT.
SDDOT crews have been working in these areas since early this morning and are doing everything they can to get interstates open as soon as possible. The southeast quarter of the state received a significant amount of snowfall Saturday along with high winds creating significant blowing and drifting snow.
Roads are still very icy and speeds will be greatly reduced. Drivers will need to use extreme caution when driving today. Snowplow crews will be continuing their work and motorists are asked to be cautious of them on the roadways today.

SIOUX FALLS (KELO.com) -- The Sioux Falls Police Department has lifted the no travel advisory for Sioux Falls.
All emergency routes have been cleared. A snow alert has been declared, and snow removal efforts continue across the city. For the full plowing schedule, go to www.siouxfalls.org/snowalert.
Some scattered slippery spots and drifting may continue in Sioux Falls, so drivers are asked to continue to use caution while traveling. Reduce your speed when snow and/or ice are present on roadways, and allow at least three times the normal following distance from the vehicle in front of you. Stay four car lengths behind maintenance vehicles so that the drivers can see you.

SIOUX FALLS (KELO.com) – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for the immediate Sioux Falls area, and for Rock County in Minnesota and Lyon County in Iowa, until 1:00 p.m.
Minor snow accumulations and blowing snow are still possible as the slow moving storm exits the area. Roads will be slippery in spots as well, so please drive carefully.
Further to the east, the advisory continues until 7:00 p.m.
Interstate 90 is still closed from Chamberlain to the Minnesota line, while Interstate 29 is closed from Sioux Falls to Watertown. Some areas in eastern South Dakota still have No Travel Advisories posted. Check out www.safetravelusa.com/sd for your travel route.

SIOUX FALLS (KELO.com) -- The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls received 13.7 inches of snow in the storm, setting a record for April 14 snowfalls, and for any day in the month of April. April snowfall so far is at 24.9 inches, the record for the month, beating the 18.4 inches set in 1983.
