SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Voter turnout in the Sioux Falls city and school board election was pretty low.
"Just a little over 30 percent," says City Clerk Tom Greco, as he briefs City Council.
32,166 ballots were cast out of 105,470 registered voters.
That looks to be the lowest turnout in a city election in nearly 25 years.
In a field of six mayoral candidates only two remain. Paul Tenhaken and Jolene Loetscher will compete in a runoff election for mayor on May 1. TenHaken received 34 percent of the vote, followed by Loetscher with nearly 25 percent. They beat out their four older competitors, in order of finish, Jim Entenmen, Greg Jamison, Kenny Anderson, Jr. and Mike Gunn.
In the Council Central District race, Zach DeBoer meets Curt Soehl in the May 1st runoff. DeBoer had nearly 28 percent, Soehl nearly 27 percent. They defeated Tom Hurlburt, Scott Bartlett, and Thor Bardon.
In Council At Large A, Janet Brekke beat John Paulson 56 to 44 percent.
In Council At Large B, incumbent Christine Erickson beat Nick Weiland 67 to 33 percent.
In the School Board race, the two incumbents, Kate Parker and Todd Thoelke were reelected, defeating Peter Pischke.
