SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Echoing the voices that have emerged following the #MeToo and Time's Up movements, The Compass Center is promoting Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) this April.
The "Embrace your Voice" campaign is part of a national movement that encourages individuals to speak up and use their voice to promote safety, respect, and equality toward ending sexual violence.
Mayor Mike Huether will declare April SAAM during the 7 pm city council meeting on Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
The declaration will be received by The Compass Center and their community partners, Sioux Falls Police Department, Child's Voice, Children's Inn, Augustana University staff, Air National Guard victim advocates, ER nurses who work with sexual assault victims, and human trafficking partners.
