SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- A volunteer group started by military vets called Team Rubicon will now be on call to help Minnehaha County handle major emergencies.
County Emergency Manager Lynn DeYoung says these guys come in to do the dirty work in a disaster.
"Debris removal... They'll come in to fill sandbags, all those things that are a real physical job, its a real dirty job."
Team Rubicon refers to 'crossing the Rubicon', in this context it means not turning back from doing what it takes.
DeYoung says about 100 people in the Sioux Falls area have now volunteered for the group and are ready to go when called upon to do the "heavy lifting." The county can also call in group members from across the country, if needed.
