Last day to register, voting begins for City/School election

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- You can start voting in the Sioux Falls City and School Board election today.

Absentee voting began at 8 a.m.

If you'd like to vote early, go to the Minnehaha County Auditor's Office between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Today is also the voter registration deadline for the city and school elections.

The general election is Tuesday, April 10, 2018, and the runoff, if needed, is Tuesday, May, 1.

INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE CITY OF SIOUX FALLS ON HOW TO REGISTER TO VOTE, VOTE ABSENTEE

Absentee Voting will begin no later than March 26, 2018 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday at the Minnehaha County Auditor's Office, 425 N. Dakota Avenue, Sioux Falls, SD. Remember to bring one of the four forms of identification (listed below) with you when you Absentee Vote in office. 

Applications for Absentee Ballots may be submitted to the Auditor's Office, 425 N. Dakota Ave., Sioux Falls, SD  57104. The application must be completed in full and returned with a copy of one of the following forms of identification:

  • A South Dakota driver's license or a State of South Dakota issued non-driver's license.
  • A Current Student picture ID from a state accredited college, university, high school or technical school.
  • A Tribal Photo Identification Card.
  • A passport or other picture identification card issued by an agency of the US Government (such as a Veteran's Administration ID).

The application can be signed in front of a South Dakota Notary Public witnessing the signing of the application.
