SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- It was a busy day at the Toys 'R' store here today despite signs that said the store was not liquidating inventory as previously reported.
The store by the Empire Mall posted a sign that said, in part, "We understand there may have been reports of our liquidation sale starting today." (The full sign is posted above.)
The message went on to blame "the media" for any misunderstanding about the date the company's liquidation was going to start. National media outlets are reporting that the liquidation will start tomorrow.
KELO.com News visited the store and found it busier than normal, with the parking lot nearly full.
Reuters reported Tuesday that Toys ‘R’ Us had to "defend its liquidation plan against an onslaught of objections from creditors, particularly suppliers demanding payment for thousands of toys ranging from Poopeez to Bratz."
