ORLANDO, Fla. (KELO.com) -- Chris Carter of sister station KTWB has been awarded the 2017 English Radio Person of the Year for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals.
Chris accepted the award in front of more than 2,000 attendees at the CMN National Convention at Disney World.
The English Radio Person of the Year award honors an English-speaking radio station staff member who has gone above and beyond in their support of their local Children's Miracle Network Hospital or Foundation. There are only six awards total given to media partners across North America at this event – TV station of the year, TV person of the year, English Radio station of the year, English radio person of the year, Hispanic radio person of the year, and Hispanic radio station of the year.
When the local CMN team submitted the nomination for Chris, they also included a few recommendations from local miracle families. Here are a few snippets from some of those:
“Chris’s passion on the radio and true love and support he has for CMN, kids and families shows in his voice every time that he speaks. As difficult as it was to share our story, you could see the passion he had for all the kiddos and we ended up sharing many tears together. Maci still listens to him each and every day!” – Grant VanRiesen, father of micro-preemie
“When listening to Chris Carter, you can tell that these families have truly impacted his life. He is a man who puts all others above himself. Not only is his own family #1, but the CMN families are treated like his own. He truly takes the time to learn about them, learn the challenges they are facing and learn about what the future holds. He holds a special place in our hearts.” Aubrey Byrnes, mother of two premies, one with ongoing heart defects.
Chris, along with Doc Murphy, hosts the popular "Chris and Doc Show" from 5 to 9 a.m. weekdays on KTWB, the number one rated radio station in the Sioux Falls market.
