SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – The saying is tournament time is time for winter storms.
Winter Storm Watches and Blizzard Warnings dot the weather map Sunday morning.
A Blizzard Warning will be in effect through Tuesday evening mostly west of a line from Yankton to Mitchell and up to Mobridge. Winds gusting to 50 with snow in the range of six to nine inches will make conditions dangerous through Tuesday evening. West of Mitchell, conditions along I-90 (and all roads in this area) will be dangerous, with whiteout conditions and moderate to heavy snowfall causing drifting and quick accumulations. Farmers, ranchers and pet owners should make arrangements for the protection of livestock (especially newborn) and pets.
Further east, Sioux Falls is not under a watch or warning, but that can change. Depending on when the change from rain to snow occurs, the National Weather Service days three to four inches of snow is expected in the immediate area and along the I-90 corridor to the east.
