SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Stronger security screening started Tuesday at Sioux Falls Regional Airport.
The Transportation Security Administration says the new baggage screening measure requires ALL electronic devices larger than a cell phone be placed in bins for X-ray screening.
The new screening procedures were tested at 10 airports across the country over the past several months. The procedures will be implemented at all airports nationwide by late spring 2018.
“TSA constantly evaluates and occasionally updates its screening procedures to keep the traveling public secure. The change in the way electronics are screened is part of the agency’s effort to raise the baseline of aviation security and stay ahead of evolving threats against the transportation system,” says Mark Heisey, TSA federal security director for South Dakota.
You might want to get to Joe Foss Field even earlier than usual because of the tougher screening.
