SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- It was a very bad commute this morning in Sioux Falls on I-229 and some other roadways, according to the state Department of Public Safety.
Spokesman Tony Mangan in Pierre noted the following calls that the Highway Patrol handled.
- The bulk of the crashes appeared to have happened between 5 am-8 am with the heaviest between 7 and 8.
- 16 non injury crashes, most involving single vehicles.
- Multi-vehicle crashes on 229.
- At 229 and Minnesota, three vehicles, 7:49 a.m., no injuries. At about the same time, almost in the same area, there was a five-vehicle crash with one minor injury.
- At 229 and Louise, two vehicles (where one vehicle rear-ended a stalled one) and no injuries.
There were also have two minor injury crashes elsewhere:
- I-29 and 26th Street, two vehicles, minor injury.
- 229 and 10th, single vehicle, minor injury.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Vehicle crashes on Interstate 229 in south Sioux Falls have slowed portions of the highway to a crawl or come to a complete stop in others.
According to Google Traffic Conditions at just after 9 a.m., traffic was slowed to 25 mph or less in both directions just east of the Minnesota interchange to just east of the Cliff Avenue interchange.
Some ramps also indicated slowed or stopped conditions.
KELO.com News did see a Sioux Falls Police cruiser at the west-bound on ramp at Cliff Avenue.
