SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The City Council has been vetting the non-profit organizations it helps fund in the city.
Councilor Michelle Erpenbach says some of the programs are absolutely necessary:
"If we didn't have Children's Inn, we'd be out building some kind of shelter somewhere as a city," Erpenbach said. "For us to contract for those services is a dramatic savings for the taxpayers."
Many non-profits such as the Children's Inn, the Dudley House and the Compass Center have already been vetted. Others will be making their pitches to the Council.
