SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Toys and Christmas go together like cookies and milk for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve.
If you have Child's Play Toys owner Nancy Savage take you on a tour of her toy, book, and children's wear store on Phillips Ave., you'll see favorites from your childhood--like Tinker Toys--and new favorites like Doink Its--a non-lethal form of darts.
There are Play-Doh-like concoctions that never dry out. There are blocks and shapes you can build things with that connect via magnets. There are board games like Monopoly, from the original to specialty iterations.
None of the items need a smartphone app. Only a few, such as a piano keyboard that is made of fabric and rolls up, need batteries.
With the energy of a kid hepped up on Sugar Pops on Christmas morning, Savage takes you on a whirlwind tour of her store (click above), which also features candies, books, and children's clothing. Savage has owned the store for eight years and got the idea from when she lived in Seattle.
On a day two Fridays before Christmas, she had enlisted friends and relatives to help her at the cash register and gift wrap presents. She says while Christmas is important to her profitability, she changes out some of the inventory to account for the seasons and seasonal activities. She's already planning for Valentines Day, then on to spring and summer.
