SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- An anonymous donor has laid a $25,000 challenges--which if it works--could turn into an extra $50,000 for the Children's Miracle Network's Radiothon.

KELO-AM's sister stations have been broadcasting from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. yesterday and today in support of the radiothon. Last year, the event raised $216,000. This year, according to CMN officials, if the event his $241,000 by 6 p.m. today, the anonymous donor will kick in another $50,000.

"That is kind of our number one goal right now," said CMN's Erin Sanderson. "We've got our fingers cross, sending up lots of prayers that that's the number we get to."

The two day event requires volunteers to run the phone banks as well as the technology and cabling to operate four radio stations with studio quality sound from a remote location. It's a long-standing tradition for many Midwest Communications Sioux Falls employees.

However, for Denzil Bursey, KRRO's brand manager and afternoon personality, it's his first time behind the mic for the marathon sessions. He says it's been an emotional roller coaster.

"It is the most incredibly satisfying feeling in the world," Bursey said. "And it is the most heart-wrenching feeling in the world."

He said some of the parents' and childrens' story have happy endings, sad endings, or are sad stories with happy endings.

To contribute, call 605.328.5750 before 6 p.m. tonight. All monies raised go to assist local families and children and the Sanford Children's Hospital.
