SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- It took about an hour, but authorities were able to shut off a gas leak near 11th Street and Main Avenue late this afternoon.
Early reports from Sioux Falls Fire Rescue indicated that at least preparations were made to evaculate the area. The leak appeared to be in the ally area behind Minerva's restaurant.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue had warned citizens on their Twitter page about 4 p.m. to avoid the area. About 5 p.m., they said the leak was shut off and that traffic was again being allowed into that area of downtown.
MidAmerican Energy is working on the leak.
