SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Mayor Mike Huether is not concerned about the higher than average costs for spaces for the parking ramp that's part of the mixed use public/private project on Phillips Avenue.
In fact, he says it may be a good thing, as the city has plenty of "cheap" (as in how they're constructed) parking ramps.
"We've been stuck with these cheap parking lots at least for my eight years as your mayor," he told The Greg Belfrage Show this morning. "I'd rather do it right versus cheap."
He also said the Village on the River is one of the most studied projects of his mayorship.
"One thing has has definitely happened with this particular project is the amount of due diligence, the amount of discussion, and number of questions " Huether said. "It's been more than any other project that I've worked on."
The dream for this project was different, Huether said.
"It's a place to work, a place to play, a place to park, maybe even a place to live with the hotel," Huether said. "It will be grand."
