WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO.com) -- South Dakota's Mike Rounds vows to keep pushing for a comprehensive review of the Indian Health Service, really as a matter of life and death.
The Indian Health Crisis has been lost in the shuffle in Washington for too many years.
"People have brought it to their attention. Everybody goes 'this is terrible' and then life goes on, except on the reservation where somebody dies," Senator Rounds tells KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show.
Rounds indicts the IHS in every area, from not knowing where the money is being spent to a merry-go-round in leadership. Why, he asks, has the Plains region had five directors since just early last year?
"They are there for four months at a time and then they're gone again. They just pass the buck from one director to the next."
Rounds says he's going to stick with it until the country gets answers.
