SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Autumn, it was nice having you around.
You were warm but windy. But we loved you. You're not at all like your mean step-sibling, Winter.
According to that kill joy, the National Weather Service, you'll be leaving us, Autumn, Thursday night through Friday. At least for a while.
Winter will take your place for a couple of days, bringing what the NWS says will be strong northerly winds Thursday and Friday in the Sioux Empire, with gusts of 35 to 45 mph possible at times.
Worse, the Weather Service says Winter is threatening light snow across the region Thursday night into Friday. Winter is just so cold and unpredictable!
Fortunately, accumulations will be minor, with under two inches of snow expected. The NWS says many areas will receive only a trace due to the warm ground. Some consolutation. We wish Winter would just move on to North Dakota or some place else that doesn't mind having Winter around for much of the year.
But then again, there's your step-sibling's nasty windiness, threatening to blow that hated snow around.
That other spoil-sport, the Weather Channel, says you'll be back and sunny again on Saturday, but cooler than you've been most of the week. Go ahead, be that way. Was it us? Something we said?
We'll just be glad to be back in your warm embrace until your horrible sibling comes back to stay for the next 90 to 120 days next month.
Autumn, we'll miss you! Please don't leave! We're nothing without you!
