SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- A citizen activist has filed complaint against the wife of a Sioux Falls mayoral candidate who serves on the Charter Revision Commission.
Bruce Danielson wants an advisory opinion as to whether Jill Entenman has a conflict of interest by serving on the commission while her husband Jim runs for mayor next year.
Here's his formal request to the City Ethics Board:
"There is a CRC member, Jill Entenman, with a term expiring March 2019. Currently her husband is running for mayor of Sioux Falls. We must have a ruling on the efthiocs of a member who could influce the election process by her votes on the upcoming potential Sioux Falls Home Rule Charter Commission decisions. Should Ms. Entenman step down from membership so the Mayor / Council vote on a replacement in time?"
Jill Entenman's response, in part:
"We make recommendations for final action by others. Any changes to the Charter would be reported to the City Council prior to a vote of the people who have the final say on all changes. To somehow suggest a seat on the Charter Revision Committee holds the power to influence City Elections in favor of any one candidate is absurd."

The board meets at 3 p.m. today in the old City Commission chambers to take up the matter.
