SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today declared property south of Corson as a public nuisance much to the dismay of the homeowner Lonnie Banghart.

The county contends that the property has open water containers, oil and places where pests and rodents can live but Banghart says he can do what he wants behind a fence he recently put up.

Some heated discussion between Banghart and the commission over the issue that has been months in the making.

Banghart say he has replace the water in the containers with gravel, chains and in some instance chains.  Commissioner Jeff Barth told Banghart that his property looks bad.  Banghart questioned what could be seen considering the fence around his property.  Barth told him it "looks junky.

The commission voted unanimously to declare the property a nuisance and cleanup will be determined by county planning.
