ABERDEEN, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Don't tug on Superman's cape and don't mess around with Uncle Sam's science money.
A Hermosa man found this out the hard way.
Scott Thompson applied for a National Science Foundation grant on the basis of a post-doctoral student he never met and never hired at South Dakota State University. Thompson got the grant but falsified the work.
Already having been convicted of criminal fraud, the U.S. Attorney for South Dakota has now won a civil fraud case against Thompson for over $220,000.
