UNDATED (KELO AM) South Dakota's Mount Rushmore is the second most popular statue in the country, according to research by the New York Times.
It's the other side of the statue story obsessing the national media. Not all statues are controversial.
Rushmore is arguably a sculpture not a statue, but close enough. The Times reports that the most popular statue in America is the Lincoln Memorial and the Statue of Liberty is number three.
Here's another South Dakota twist to the statue story. Rapid City has been receiving calls to remove a statue of former President Bill Clinton. Apparently, critics complain about his impeachment trial and stories about his womanizing. But City Spokesman, Darrell Shoemaker, says the Clinton statue will stay.
"You can go down the streets and each president, good, bad and indifferent and ugly and there's a history there and that's what's important."
