Willamsport, PA (KELO AM) - An unidentified Sioux Falls Little Leaguer has sparked a national conversation after he was captured using his phone to make a new friend from the Dominican Republic at the LLWS.
The moment was capurted by former ESPN reporter and current contributor to the website Infield Chatter Bob Holtzman, who said the Sioux Falls player was using Google Translate to have a conversation with the player from the DR.
The image shows both players gazing at their phones, but instead of ignoring each other they are using the technology to bridge the communication gap between them.
Many responses to the tweet, which was captured just before the MLB Little League Classic between the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday night in Williamsport, have been positive. Some say it is encouraging to see the pair forming a bod despite the language gap, others call it proof that the power of sports can bring people together.
