VERMILLION, S.D. (KELO-AM) -- The role of universities in higher education is changing, and being questioned, as more people turn to online courses, and technical education.
University of South Dakota President Jim Abbott says there should be a role for institutional learning.
Governor Dennis Daugaard has been vocal in urging young people to consider technical education, and learning skills.
Abbott says people need more than just a set of skills and that a liberal arts education can also help people build the skills they need for a good job.
Abbott says critical thinking skills can lead students to a multitude of career choices.
