SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) A $9.4 million facelift for East Arrowhead Parkway on Sioux Falls growing east side will begin on Monday and take two year to complete.
The busy parkway will be widened to six lanes and include bike lanes in a major joint project between the city and the State Department of Transportation.
Just follow the detours.
The city says more than 18-thousand vehicles use Arrowhead each day...and that's projected to increase to 42-thousand by 2040.
This year, the previously milled asphalt street between Veteran’s Parkway and Gordon Drive will receive an asphalt overlay to create a smoother ride for drivers, and the intersection of Arrowhead Parkway and Highline Avenue will be reconstructed.
Next year, East Arrowhead Parkway will be reconstructed from Sycamore Avenue to Highline Avenue.
Arrowhead Parkway will also include a median with left turn lanes at select intersections throughout the corridor.
The overall project is scheduled to be substantially complete by late fall 2018.
Just follow the detours and exercise patience.
