SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) on Thursday welcomed the Western Governors Association to Sioux Falls to brainstorm about workforce development.
The lack of qualified workers is the big thing Daugaard hears as he travels South Dakota talking to business leaders.
"Business was good, but finding workforce to deliver on those sales, to deliver on those commitments to customers, was the problem,"
Daugaard drummed home that kids need a marketable skill in today's economy, and that means more than high school.
U.S. Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta was the keynote speaker for the workforce development conference.
