Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - One of the largest plastic surgery clinics in the region is notifying customers of a data breach that occurred early this year.
According to a release on their web site, Plastic Surgery Associates was hit with ransomware on February 12th. After hiring experts to remove the infection, they determined that they could not rule out unauthorized access to a limited number of patient records.
So far there's been no evidence of any misuse of patient data such as name, driver's license number, credit card information, medical history, or address and date of birth. However the company says they've partnered with Equifax to provide one year of credit monitoring and security to all affected individuals at no cost.
Plastic Surgery Associates has their main office in Sioux Falls, with staff also operating out of Yankton, Mitchell, Dakota Dunes, Watertown, and Spencer, Iowa.
