The Appropriations Committee of the South Dakota legislature got an update on state tax collections at their meeting in Aberdeen Wednesday.
Jeff Mehlhaff, a fiscal analyst with the Legislative Research Council, says sales taxes continued the downward trend.
Mehlhaff says most of the critical tax categories were down and that they are continually revising their estimates.
Most of the lower than expected taxes are due to the soft farm economy, and more online sales.
