SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) -- Though over half the summer is gone, road projects continue.
The City recently announced several big and little projects that will impact your commute.
Lane Closure – 26th Street
Beginning on Thursday, July 27, 2017 the outside eastbound lane of East 26th Street will be closed between Stephen Avenue & Bahnson Avenue.
MidAmerican Energy will be performing utility work.
This work is anticipated to be complete by the end of the day on July 27, 2017.
Drivers are urged to use caution and reduce their speed while travelling near the construction area and may want to consider alternate routes.
Essex Drive Street Construction
Beginning on Thursday, July 27, West Essex Drive will be closed at Plateau Trail to allow construction crews to replace the watermain, surfacing, and curb ramps within this intersection.
Weather permitting this work is anticipated to be complete within two weeks.
Western Avenue Closure
Beginning on Monday, July 31, 2017, South Western Avenue will be closed from 69th Street to LaQuinta Street to allow construction crews to reconstruct the street. Traffic will be detoured to Minnesota Avenue via 69th Street and 85th Street.
This work is part of the ongoing 69th Street and Western Avenue reconstruction project. Western Avenue is anticipated to reopen to traffic in late August.
This project is anticipated to be fully open to traffic by late fall, with final completion scheduled for the spring of 2018.
