Garth Brooks ticket seekers: Beware of fakes

Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Now that over 45 thousand tickets to Garth Brook's six shows in Sioux Falls have sold out, the Better Business Bureau is warning those who didn't get tickets to beware of who they buy from.

"Always be very cautious, see what their refund policy or guarantee is [in the event] you get out there and can't use these tickets," said Jessie Schmidt with the BBB Sioux Falls. She cautions against using secondary tickets sellers because in some cases they may be hawking fake or non-existent tickets. Several ticket brokers were claiming to have seats for Garth Brooks available even before the tickets were put on sale, Schmidt says those can't be trusted because the broker doesn't own the tickets, they are just hoping to get some when they go on sale.

Brook's policy on this tour is to keep the tickets in the hands of his fans as much as possible. Several floor seats will only be redeemed with the credit card used to purchase them through a process known as paperless ticketing, which prevents the tickets from being sold on the secondhand market.

Schmidt says if you must utilize a secondhand provider for tickets, choose one that's reputable so you know the tickets are verified. She recommends a local company called Prairie Tickets, which resells seats to concerts and sporting events nationwide. "These guys have a great, great reputation in the marketplace. Do business with people you know, even as it relates to buying tickets [to see] Garth."
