Canton, S.D. (KELO AM) - Voters in Lincoln County have approved a measure which requires power-generating wind turbines to be at least a half mile from any home, essentially killing a plan to build a wind farm near Beresford.
Final results showed 57% of voters approved the measure to 42% against, a martin of fifteen percent. The gap was even wider in many rural townships, with just one Sioux Falls precinct voting in favor of Dakota Power Community. Turnout for the special election was 57%.

Tuesday's vote is seen as the final word on the matter, which has been debated in various arenas over the last three years.
