BERESFORD, S.D. (KELO-AM) -- Hatching turkeys could create 100 jobs in Beresford.
Gov. Dennis Daugaard announced via Twitter this morning a $25 million investment in a turkey egg and hatchery facility in the southeast South Dakota community.
The Area Development News reports that the Hendrix Genetics facility "will directly distribute quality Hybrid commercial poults to growers." The publication also noted that the investment plan includes new hatcheries, egg production facilities, a modern transportation fleet, and "the hiring of skilled workforce needed to support these areas of operations."
The facility will produce 35 million eggs per year and up to 60 million eggs with what it calls its "aligned partners."
