UNDATED (KELO AM) South Dakota has been added to California's state travel ban list.
Democratic California State Attorney General Xavier Becerra has added the Mount Rushmore State to a list of states where official travel by California state employees is restricted.
It's basically because of the new South Dakota law that allows adoption agencies affiliated with religious groups to refuse to place children with same sex couples.
Governor Dennis Daugaard (R) is shrugging it off.
“These government ‘travel bans’ are political statements that have no discernable effect. They are designed to generate publicity.” says Daugaard, in a statement released by his office in Pierre.
Eight states are now on California's travel hit list, all for laws or regulations deemed discriminatory to LGBT people.
"Our country has made great strides in dismantling prejudicial laws that have deprived too many of our fellow Americans of their precious rights. Sadly, that is not the case in all parts of our nation, even in the 21st century," Becerra says, “Discriminatory laws in any part of our country send all of us several steps back."
