SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) Sioux Falls street sweepers picked up over 6,300 tons of debris in this season's first pass over city streets, 300 tons more than last year.

"...Course the town grows a little bit each year so there are more streets to sweep, but still that's a pretty amazing amount of material that we pick up," City Streets Chief Galynn Huber tells KELO.COM News.

2,220 curb miles of city streets were swept over the course of 50 days.

Huber says it was just good old trash, garbage and other debris this time, but in past years street sweepers have swept up lost billfolds and wallets.

There will be two more street sweeping passes this year - in the summer and then in the fall.
