WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO AM) South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R) says President Trump may have made some inappropriate comments to James Comey in their private meeting, but nothing illegal.

Rounds has reviewed the fired FBI Director's very detailed written description of the Trump meeting and talked about it Thursday on KELO Radio's Greg Belfrage Show.

"While he may have had inappropriate remarks, or remarks that could be taken out of context, or could have made someone uncomfortable, it does not appear that they have risen to any illegal level."

Rounds said inexperience may be the big reason this happened.

"The President, most certainly, has not had experience in the past being an elected official. He has not been in that type of an executive position where you are dealing with other individuals within government,"

In fact, Rounds thinks Comey's description of the Trump meeting makes it clear that the President himself was never under investigation.

Senator Rounds said that he hoped Thursday long-anticipated Comey hearings on Captiol Hill would help clear the air.
