South Dakota: The Weather State

UNDATED (KELO AM) This brief tale of two farmers shows just how bizarre the weather can be in South Dakota.

Todd Yackley farms near Oneida and tells KELO Radio's It's Your Agri-Business Show that it's bone dry.

"I'd say 80 to 90 percent of the winter wheat in central South Dakota.....has all been sprayed out. These guys are either haying it or spraying it."

While about 200 miles to the south and east, where Matt Loy farms near Lennox, it's too wet.

"Excess rain fall. In fact, I'm sitting in the tractor hooked to the corn planter, re-seeding some corn that got flooded out."

Bone dry there. Too wet here. Welcome to South Dakota agriculture.
