SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) -- The Government Operations and Audit Committee of the South Dakota legislature will continue its discussion of the GEAR UP program and the problems that it created for the Mid Central Educational Cooperative.
The committee met for most of the day yesterday in Sioux Falls.
Senator Stace Nelson of Fulton says he wants to hear from more people directly involved in the grant funding.
Committee Chair, Senator Deb Peters of Hartford says she is willing to hold more public hearings.
State auditors detailed how millions of dollars were unaccounted for after being funneled through Mid Central. Three managers of that cooperative will stand trial this summer in connection with that embezzlement.
The committee will meet again later this month in Pierre.
