WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO AM) South Dakota U.S. Senators John Thune (R) and Mike Rounds (R) both question the timing of President Trump's firing of FBI Director James Comey.
Senator Rounds says he was surprised by the timing of the termination.
"However, we expect the investigations into Russia’s attempt to interfere with the 2016 election to continue. His termination will not be allowed to impede in these investigations.”
Senator Thune says it is ultimately a judgement call by the President, but he does have concerns.
"I think there are questions about timing that the administration and Justice Department are going to need to answer in the days ahead." Thune says he looks forward to seeing who the President nominates to replace Comey.
But Thune tells Fox News that there is bipartisan support in Congress for the President's action because there has been of loss in confidence in Comey.
