SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM)
Earlier this week, the American Health Care Act passed the House and now heads to the Senate.
South Dakota Representative Kristi Noem voted to repeal the Affordable Health Care Act in favor of the new plan. Some Sioux Falls citizens didn't take to kindly to Noem's vote, as 60 protesters stood outside of her Sioux Falls office Saturday afternoon.
In particular, protesting letting states waive the requirements for essential services, eliminating provisions preventing higher premiums for pre-existing conditions, and calling for continued funding of Planned Parenthood.
Noem's vote was critized earlier in the week, Samantha Spawn of Pro-Choice NARAL bashed Noem and accused her of getting into public policy for all the wrong reasons.
"People should be in public policy with the intent of helping people, not with the intent of getting re-elected, which is Kristi Noems only objective at this point."
