SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - South Dakota congressional candidate Shantel Krebs recently expressed her frustration over the inability of the Trump administration to move legislation.
Krebs says Trump has a plan, but needs to work on building relationships. She says she's frustrated too, adding that she's disappointed but at the same time she knows he wants to move a lot quicker than she thinks the rest of the caucuses want to move.
She says as a congresswoman she'll have to show compromise and build coalitions but deliver what South Dakota needs. Krebs says she has hope that there's a lot of opportunity ahead, at the same time balance what's best for the state and the country.
Krebs is surprised at the time it's taking Congress to decide the healthcare issue. She says "in general the public wants to see the Affordable Care Act repealed." She says that Congress "will take another stab at it and I think they will be successful."
She says again it's compromise, what are those areas that we all want to be sure that are taken care of, that's deliverable and doesn't leave people uninsured.
Krebs says controlling spending is what she's hearing most from South Dakotans. The South Dakota Secretary of State made her comment earlier this week in Watertown.
She will square off against Mitchell resident Dusty Johnson in a Republican primary.
