SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A citywide emergency training involving law enforcement, first responders, the City, Sanford Health and Avera Health starts this morning at 8:30.
The training is centered at Sanford USD Medical Center and will include law enforcement communication and overhead pages at the medical center.
The mock drill involves a scenario where an Avera helicopter crashes at the Sanford landing pad.
Planners want the public to realize that this is only a drill as some aspects of this training will appear to be an actual disaster.
Participants in the event include the City of Sioux Falls, Sanford Health, Avera Health, Paramedics Plus, Sioux Falls Police, Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Minnehaha County Emergency Management and the South Dakota Department of Health.
