SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) Midco is now offering in Sioux Falls and 11 nearby communities a new super high-speed internet service, 35 times faster than the average high-speed internet.
This is apparently a first for South Dakota.
Midco's Paige Pearson Meyer says Midco Xstream Gig costs $99 a month and requires a special modem. They rolled this out just a matter of weeks ago in Fargo, North Dakota and hope to keep expanding coverage, especially into rural areas.
"Our goal throughout the next year is that 80 percent of our footprint, which includes Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota right now, will have Gig," says Pearson Meyer.
Pierson Meyer says the new Gig service provides all a busy family needs.
"In this age where families have at least five devices in their homes, some have 15 devices in their homes, they are looking for more and more bandwidth."
Business customers can also take advantage of gigabit internet with a product called Midco Business Xstream Gig.
The new super speed internet is now available only in Sioux Falls, Baltic, Canton, Colton, Crooks, Lennox, Humboldt, Renner, Madison, Shindler, and Tea, but as Pearson Meyer says the goal is to expand.
