SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Sioux Falls Downtown Lion's Club Pancake Days open this afternoon at four at the Convention Center to feed tens-of-thousands in the two-day fundraiser.
Club member Matt Billion says the pancake feed is a fine-tuned machine.
Billion says at peak times, Lions Club volunteers have eleven large pancake griddles going so "we can really crank 'em out." Billion says at full steam, volunteers will flip over 10,000 flapjacks an hour. Also on the menu are the tasty smokie sausages and Land O' Lakes ice cream
And where does the dough from the pancake feed go?
Billion says funds stay local. He says the money goes toward the South Dakota Eye and Tissue Bank, The Lion's Foundation, McCrossan Boy's Ranch and Kids Against Hunger. The public is invited to bring their old eyeglasses to be recycled and used by the needy.
